FRAME OFF RESTORATION
History/Overview: Purchased at Roger Swan Chevrolet in Bowmanville, Ontario by Grandpa. Used on the family farm for several years before passing it to the owner’s father in the early 2000s. A complete frame-off professional restoration was completed by two restorations builders in the Durham Region of Ontario. Recently serviced and inspected by Connors Fleet Service in Lethbridge, Alberta including full service, fluids, filters, and an Out of Province inspection. Odometer reads 124,500 km. Approx. 5,000 km on the custom-built performance engine. There is over $100K invested in this truck. Runs well and pulls hard.
Body: Factory long box regular cab. Colour change from the original brown colour. Started by Don Butt Autobody in Oshawa, Ontario. Two years frame-off restoration by J&M Restorations in Bowmanville, Ontario. Fully disassembled, repaired and rebuilt. New front fenders, rockers and cab corners. New aftermarket steel cowl induction hood. Grille and headlights are from a 1990 Chevrolet. New original style chrome front and rear bumpers. New door latches and hinges. New stainless trim on wheel openings and drip cap rails. New low profile roof marker lights. All glass is good including a new windshield with upper shade band. Rear window replaced and tinted. All window rubbers and weather stripping are new. Euro taillights.
Frame/Chassis/Suspension: Frame was fully sandblasting and repainted in gloss black. BELTECH lowering kit – 3-inch front and 4-inch rear. BELTECH gas shocks front and rear. New springs and all new steering and suspension components.
Engine: NEW BUILT 496 CID V8 big block engine by Cochrane Automotive in Newcastle, Ontario. Not a rebuild – built from the ground up with all new parts. GM 454 block bored to 496 cubic inches and painted Chevy orange. High performance setup. Quick Fuel 750 cfm 4-barrel carburetor on Edelbrock Performer 6045 aluminum high rise intake manifold. MSD digital ignition, MSD Blaster 3 coil, rev limiter and MSD ignition wires. March billet pulley system with drop brackets. Electric water pump. Pro-Comp electric fuel pump with Pro-Comp fuel pressure gauge and new braided fuel lines. Holley fuel regulator with AED Dual electric fans and new Northern Aluminum radiator. Billet aluminum alternator. All new rad hoses, coolant lines, and fuel lines. VR high performance starter. PAINLESS 18-circuit wiring harness with all circuits labeled. New AC Delco dual battery setup. Chrome thermostat housing. Chevrolet aftermarket chrome air cleaner. Aluminum big block valve covers. Ran on high octane fuel since the build was completed. Total engine cost including parts, setup, and installation was $30,000.
Transmission: TH400 professionally built by TCI in California. Rated to handle 700+ HP. New torque converter from TCI. Original column shifter. New drive shaft U joints.
Differential: Auburn Richmond performance rear end with 3:73 PosiTrac gears. Runs with 2600 rpm at 110 km per hour. Aftermarket chrome cover.
Exhaust: Hooker headers. Dual stainless steel with Pypes Performance 3-inch mandrel bent pipes. New stainless mufflers. Two aftermarket high flow ceramic catalytic converters (required in Ontario).
Brakes: Power original style front disc with rear disc conversion kit replacing original drums. New brake components, wheel bearings and brake lines. HURST line lock installed on front brakes with switch mounted on lower dash (never used to date). New old stock power brake booster and master cylinder.
Wheels: 20-inch aftermarket alloy.
Tires: 20-inch rubber. Also, BF Goodrich Radial TA raised white letter 275/60/R15 with near-new tread; mounted on original stock 8-inch wide 15 inch Rally wheels with centre caps and trim rings are also included.
Interior: Dark Charcoal cloth original bench seat professionally upholstered by Larry’s Auto Trim in Oshawa Ontario. Black cloth sun visors. Factory painted head liner. New factory-style black nylon carpet installed by Larry’s Auto Trim. Original maroon colour dash pad with original matching maroon door panels. Original steering wheel. Aftermarket tachometer with X3 water temp, oil, and voltage gauges mounted in original dash locations.
Extras included: The extra factory Rally wheels with good tires mounted. Aftermarket rubber box floor mat and spare. Stock taillight lenses.
Options and Special Features: Power steering and power brakes.
Known issues: Some filler detected in both lower doors and lower sections of the front box. One paint chip front edge of front LH door edge. One very small crack in dash by LH defrost vent. Middle of dash is bulged up a bit. Preliminary Out-of-Province inspection completed — full certification not done (just needs new ebrake cable).
Reason for selling: Downsizing.
