VERY NICE METICULOUS RESTORATION
History: Car was produced on March 13, 1968 at the San Jose, CA plant and originally purchased at Metro Ford Sales in Calgary, Alberta. Last purchased in Vancouver as a good driver in 2005 and driven back to Red Deer, Alberta. With over $100K invested (receipts included) this ground up meticulous restoration was completed in 2010 and barely driven since. Odometer reads 18631 miles. Less than 300 miles on the build!
Body: Original Wimbledon White colour. Sheetmetal, body work and paint by well known Comfort Collision & Restoration in Red Deer, Alberta. Body was stripped to bare metal and repaired as necessary with great care. Body side stripes are PAINTED with clear sprayed over top. Smoked/tinted glass. Light textured underbody undercoating. Paint is very nice.
Frame/Chassis/Suspension: Original components in well maintained condition. Rear leaf springs with gas shocks. Recent new front shocks.
Engine: Likely original 280 CID V8 (not verified for numbers matching as block numbers are hard to read). 4-barrel carburetor. Recent new one-piece rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Recent new fuel pump and carb kit.
Transmission: Likely original C4 Select Shift automatic.
Differential: Likely original – car was built with 2.79 gears.
Exhaust: Dual aluminized steel with chrome tips. Stock exhaust manifolds.
Brakes: Factory front disc and drums in the rear in good condition,
Wheels: American Racing 5 spoke 14 inch.
Tires: BF Goodrich Radial TA front 215 60R 14 and 245 60R 14 in the rear in very good condition.
Interior: Bucket seats with upper and lower consoles. Seats, door panels and all interior in very good condition with new carpet. Original red headliner.
Extras included: MARTI REPORT, 2021 Appraisal and large collection of restoration process photos. Receipts for $100K. Original wheels with new tires and GT hub caps. New vinyl trunk mat (on order). Fitted car cover from The Mustang Shop in Calgary.
Options and Special Features: Power steering and power brakes. SPORT DECK rear seat. Aftermarket Replica Radio/Stereo with USB and 6 CD player mounted in trunk
Known issues: A few paint chips on the black finish on the dash above the floor console and on LH A pillar. Rattle from trunk area (likely the stereo mount). Heater fan makes some noise. Only one small spot of filler detected with a magnet test – RH rear quarter. One small paint chip on LH door edge. RH door is out a bit at the back edge (needs adjustment). Very light orange peel on RH side (could use a polish in that area) – rest is good.
Reason for selling: Downsizing – no storage.
