THE TRUCK THAT WAS NEVER BUILT
ONE of ONE
History: Original truck was purchased in Calgary in the Fall of 2011 and then fully disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The vision was to build a GM version of the early 60’s Ford unibody. This unique creation was built from the ground up and finished in 2021. This truck pulls super strong and corners like a race car. Has already won two Best Modified truck trophies. Driven trouble free to the C10 Nationals in Salt Lake City in June of 2024 from the BC interior! This truck sits right, looks right and drives beautifully with no issues and 10,000 proven miles.
Body: Big back window cab. All sheet metal that was rusted was replaced – inner and outer rocker panels, cab corners (before box modification), lower kick panels and outer floor sections. Donor 8’ box sides were grafted/welded onto the cab to create the one-off unibody. Fully boxed rocker channel from front of cab to rear wheels wells for rigidity. Welded and cross braced all the box crossmembers to make the box/cab structurally sound. Widened wheel tubs and custom fabricated tailgate. Repositioned GMC embossed emblem in tailgate with modified latches.
The new ONE-PIECE truck body shell was mounted onto a rotisserie and professionally properly prepped and painted at KS Enterprises Auto Body near Castlegar, BC. All other sheet metal panels like the hood, fenders, inners, rad support etc. were also professionally prepped and painted. Mahogany bed wood with polished stainless strips and load lock down anchors. Fuel filler is located behind the left rear taillight. Solid mounted cab. Removed the original GMC dash and welded in a 1961 Chevrolet C10 unit with custom fabricated dash ends that flow through the custom door panels. Modified grill insert.
Frame/Chassis/Suspension: Frame was stripped and fully boxed with a C-notch. QA1 coil-overs in the rear with custom fabricated mounts. Complete 2010 Crown Victoria front suspension (modified front struts) and crossmember. Modified front frame rails and integral rack and pinion steering.
Engine: Low mileage (under 100,000 km) 2004 GM LQ4 6.0 litre including the matching wiring harness and reprogrammed computer. Factory LQ4 fuel injection. New flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and hydraulic throw-out bearing. Shortened oil pan. Aluminum fuel tank with in-tank fuel pump.
Transmission: TREMEC T56 6 speed manual.
Differential: Dana 30 posi with 3.73 gears. Runs with 2300 rpms in 5th gear and 1600 rpms in 6th gear at 100 km per hour.
Exhaust: Custom aluminized steel 2 ½” dual which is mounted within the frame and tight to undercarriage for good ground clearance. Stock exhaust manifolds.
Brakes: 4-wheel disc with Wilwood master cylinder.
Wheels: US MAGS front 17 X 8 and 17 X 10 in the rear.
Tires: BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 front 235 45R 17 and 275 40R 17 in the rear.
