History/Overview: This 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible is finished in classic black and retained by the family since new (except for 3 weeks) after being purchased in British Columbia. Dad and his brother eventually stripped it completely down to the bare frame and rebuilt it from the ground up. Dad’s passion for these Cadillacs ran deep enough that he went on to restore four more Caddys for his children after finishing this one. It has been stored indoors in a Quonset for the last 25 years but driven each year since 2019 to keep everything moving. Still cruises down the highway in Caddy style. Very nice interior. A classic cruiser with a legendary family pedigree.
Body: 2 door convertible.
Frame/Chassis/Suspension: Factory components. Frame appears to be solid. Front end rides on coil springs with gas shocks with leaf springs and air shocks in the rear.
Engine: Small block was rebuilt years ago.
Transmission: Likely factory automatic.
Differential: Likely original with unknown gears.
Exhaust: Single aluminized steel.
Brakes: Factory four-wheel drum.
Wheels: Factory 15-inch steel with factory wheel covers.
Tires: Armstrong Coronet SX/A 235/75R15.
Interior: Very nicely reupholstered in period correct style – the highlight of this car. Factory radio. No A/C.Â
Extras included: New set of brake shoes. 6 extra wheel covers. 2 alternators and a starter motor.
Options and Special Features: Power steering and power brakes. Power windows, seat and antennae. Power convertible top (needs repairs).Â
Known issues: Clock does not work. Convertible top needs to be repaired (does not leak fluid). Dash is cracked. Some rattles. Some engine, exhaust, coolant and transmission leaks. Single lights do not work. RH front window does not go down and RH rear window is slow. Rip in the LH armrest. Rust bubbles RH bottom behind the rear wheel. Filler detected in the LH lower door skin back corner, rear quarter, and rockers. Noticeable vertical panel cut on the LH rear fender. Road rash/surface rust on the bottom edges. Floor rust perforation in all four floor pans. Cracks in filler on the RH side of the car. One known accident – front passenger side. Windshield is driver quality.
Reason for selling: Family has decided it’s time to pass on the legacy.
